Invalid IPs Bad Domains Invalid ASNs Exceptions Report Form

This is a new project currently under development with aim to provide list of IP blocks, ASNs, and domains that do not have valid information entered in whois. As you can guess invalid whois information makes the whois data for that particular resource useless and is completely contrary to the main reasons for having whois in the first place - to allow others to find how to find who is the owner of the resource and how to contact responsible party in case of problems.

The first part of the project is currently under way and provides list of ip blocks that have invalid whois data at the RIR whois database. List of invalid ip blocks is provided in same ways as Bogon IP Lists, including text file with list of these blocks, dns based list of ips and whois and bgp sessions. In addition we will use our monitoring system to check if any of these ip blocks are used and by who. List of invalid whois ip blocks is compiled by automated scripts as well as by reports from users (if you did whois on our service and found data to be invalid you can report it here), for any blocks that are found we try to make contact (usually sending report to upstream ISP) and give them 5 days to fix the whois info before adding ip block to our list.

Separately we will also work on list of domains that have invalid information such as do not have valid address or phone numbers. This will be done primarily based on reports from other users and partially by analyzing data produced for queries users do on our whois server. All domains  will be checked manually and when email is valid, we will email the owner of domain and give them 5 days to fix the info and afterwards add domain to our list and file a request with ICANN to have them check on validity of the domain with appropriate registrar and if ICANN can not receive valid information in whois either, the domain will be permanently marked as invalid by registrar and removed from active use. Any domains on our invalid list will be checked on daily basis for any updates to whois and in case whois is changed and now has valid contact information, we will remove the domain from the list. List of domains with invalid whois will be provided as text file and through special dns server.
