Domain Whois Functionality
The server tries its best to get whois information on ALL known domains and
depending on particular domain it does one or more query to other whois servers,
dns servers and other sources of domain-specific data. In cases where standard
whois server is not available for domain, but the domain registry maintains
web-based interface, our server can do lookup there and then filters the results
to present to user as more normal text whois output. Where whois server is not
available for particular top level domain at all or when that whois server
presents back data that we can not filter to normal text, we provide back link
to NIC (Domain Registration Website) where you can find more information on the
domain and also give back DNSINFO output listing dns servers. If there is no
website available yet for domain registrations for particular top level domain,
a root-whois information from www.iana.org is
given back.
There are frequent changes happening to whois services for top-level and
while we try our best to keep up and provide most accurate data, some of our own
information about where this data can be collected can be out of date. If you
know that top-level domain that we listed as not having working whois server,
now has it - please let us know
(you should also contact us when our server tries to gather data from old,
obsolute whois source)
Special Note 07-17-03: We're currently in process of
reviewing and revising data on all country top level domains (2-letter domains)
to update completewhois engine (last major update to list of whois servers in
May 2002). Currently domains .A?-.C? have been checked, we expect to finish and
have updated data on all domains by end of August 2003.

is not updated often or it is still under development. These also include top
level domains fully managed by other registries where we believe whois

domain.

or its whois server output or interface is not yet supported by our software. In

The following domains do not have whois server and we were unable to find
domain registration website that can be considered fully developed NIC. These
are the domains for countries where internet is not widely used yet and
there exist only few dozen domains under this top level domain. In many cases
some sort of website with domain registration forms do exist (often maintained
by local isp if it exists in the country) but it can not yet be considered an
independent functioning NIC (domain registration service). In this case we
provide dig information on dns servers and IANA information on this country and
its top level domain and if possible URL where you can go for more information

List4: Non-ICANN Top Level Domains with Full Whois Output
There are several alternative dns systems (also called alternative
namespaces) exist that provide its users with additional top level domains.
These systems require either ISP or user to add additional root servers (not
approved by ICANN) or use special software to
be able to access these domains. For more information on various namespaces
please see www.root-dns.org.
Currently our software is at the very minimum level as far as support for
non-icann namespaces (consider it to be in pre-beta testing) and we can not
provide dns information on non-icann domains at this time. If you do want to see
whois for non-icann domains, please remember to enable it from main whois form
or by using "multiple_namespace_support=on" option. Below are
some of the non-icann domains you will be able to query then:
New.Net Namespace and Domains
New system recently introduced by New.Net
has gained popularity because it is supported by several large ISPs including
Earthlink and and @Home and provides number of popular new top level domain
extensions. We support whois data for the followng new.net domains:

Adns.Net Domains (part of ORSC namespace)
Fairly old namespace primarily known for .usa, .earth and .z domains and they
also serve as basis for AtlanticRoot and they are part of "The Open Root
Server Consortium/Confederation". For more information see
their website. We support whois data on these adns.net domains:

Name-Space.Com Namespace
Name-space.com have added over 500 top-level domains to their namespace, but
there are really very few who use their namespace (New.Net, ORSC and Pacific
Root have the largest number of users out of alternative namespace systems).
While name-space.com provides functioning whois server, because they are so many
top-level domains and they often add and delete new ones, we will not support
their namespace but if you want to do whois for one of their domains, it
is available at www.name-space.com
Operators of other namespaces which are listed at root-dns.org and have
established working whois system can contact
us and email information on your whois server and list of top-level domains
you support and we will consider adding support for your domains.
